The highly anticipated final episode of HBO’s fantasy drama, Games of Thrones, is set to air on Sunday, May 19, 2019… and the question on everyone’s minds right now is… Who will take the Iron Throne? The series has become a big hit since it premiered 8 years ago as an adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s series of fantasy novels, A Song of Ice and Fire (with A Game of Thrones being the first volume in the series).

The stars of this mega show have beautiful smiles, of course. However, the series is perceived as medieval realism and during medieval times, dental care was not like it is today.

In George R.R. Martin’s books, Dywen of the Night’s Watch is described as having wooden teeth. The books also claim that Jon Arryn, who served as Hand of the King to Robert I Baratheon, lost most of his teeth by the time he got married. It seems A Song of Ice and Fire is a bit more accurate when it comes to teeth.

On the show, you’ll find Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister, and Sansa Stark (among many others) all have beautiful pearly whites. Game of Thrones may not have used realism in this case but, the books certainly make up for that.
